Silver Valley Kennels in Arizona

We are writing this blog to suggest to everyone interested in a Silver Lab in Arizona or the surrounding area to NOT, repeat NOT buy one from Silver Valley Kennels.

We purchased a lovely little puppy in December 2010.  When he was about six months old we noticed he was limping after laying down for a while.  We took him to a vet and the vet said he had really bad hip and elbow dysplasia.  We contacted the breeder and asked for a refund of the money and the breeder said to bring the puppy back and he would give us our money back.  We have two young children that had gotten attached to the puppy and when we asked what he was going to do with the dog the breeder said he was going to put the dog down.  Not an option, so we held onto the dog.  Happy to say that the dog's not limping anymore, but today at 16 months he has CATARACTS!!!

Obviously the bog breeder has some issues with his lines and should not breed the two we got the puppy from.  With all that being said, the breeder did promise to refund us money when he sold another litter...to this day we have not heard anything from him.  So, now we are going to spend about $3000 to have ctaract surgery on our dog, because he is part of the family.

Bottom line...I would highly recommend AGAINST buying a lab puppy from Silver Valley Kennels in Arizona.

  1. I got a female Chocolate Lab from this breeder, at less then 1 month after her 6 yr birthday, she had to be put down due to a genetic kidney disorder. This was both vet and labratory confirmed, we could not have gotten her to a vet soon enough. Tried to contact breeder just to inform them of a potential issue and got no reply from them. Needless to say, this was all heart breaking for our family and the loss still great.
